Championship Game Summary
Pussycat Balls 7, Incrediballs 6

On October 30th the women's championship soccer matchup took place between The Pussycat Balls and the Incrediballs. To start the game off, the Incrediballs almost instantly had the first shot of the game go just wide of the net. After a back and forth battle, around the 15 minute mark is where it looked we were sure to get our first goal of the game. Emily Pahl of the Incrediballs skillfully made her way around a Pussycat defender; leaving just the goalie to beat. There Pahl put an excellent ball on the net and the PC goalie got her fingertips on the ball, but it was not quite enough to prevent the goal. Incrediballs took a 1-0 lead.

As the game continued to be a back and forth battle it was around 2:30 that the Incrediballs sought their second goal. Once again it's Emily Pahl with a great path to the net until Katie Barron, of the Pussycat Balls, caught up and safely cleared the ball out on what looked to be a sure goal. As time expired in the first half there was still had a 1-0 lead by the all-freshman Incrediballs. As the second half began it was the Pussycat Balls building momentum with several close scoring plays by Meghan Stappen. Finally after several close calls, a well-placed shot by Stappen in the top right corner of the net tied the score at one apiece.

With no other scoring and continuous defensive battles, time expired in regulation. As the first overtime, began the sun had almost completely set and both teams looked exhausted. Through the first five minutes overtime neither team was able to score in what had become a defensive stalemate. While in the second OT it looked like we were on our way to penalty kicks. Olivia Baroni got one more wide open look the net, but missed the game winner just wide.

Similar to the first overtime, neither team was able to find the back of the net in the second OT. With no other better way to decide a championship game the teams headed to penalty kicks. After both teams had shot four penalty kicks each, they had both scored two. The Incrediballs fifth shooter was successful and therefore it left the game in the hands of Pussycat Ball’s captain, Erin Shepard. She managed to overcome the pressure packed moment and send the game into a sudden victory penalty kicks! In sudden victory both teams hit their first two shots. Incrediballs missed just over the crossbar in round three. This left the Pussycat Balls a chance to win on the next shot.

As Alina Bahlavouni stepped up for what could be the game winning shot, both teams stood quiet, some not even able to watch!  Bahlavouni ripped a shot bottom right of the net to win the game in what was an amazing battle between both teams. FINAL SOCRE: The Pussycat Balls – 7, Incrediballs – 6.
