Championship Game Summary

The men's soccer finals pitched The Paper 8 against the Grasshoppers. The Paper 8 reached the championship by beating Pi Kappa Alpha "A" 3-0, Sigma Phi Epsilon "A" 4-3, and Bob 3-1.

The final was characterized by The Paper 8's pinpoint passing and Grasshoppers' long passes into the box. Chris Dobbie of The Paper 8's opened the scoring with a shot from 12 yards out. Lee Marlow then shot in a rebound off the goalie for another score. Dobbie scored on another play, and then crosses to Ed Hall who brings the score to 4-0. Grasshoppers' Reinhart Mechler scores from 15 yards out, but Dobbie returns with a shot from 2 yards closing the half 5-1.

The second half was a strong string of scores for The Paper 8. Dobbie scored left footed, from 20 yards out. Shawn Rubin scored from 15 yards out and then assisted in Chris Dobbie's 5th score. Craig Mariow scores off a rebound from the goalie followed by a score by Kevin Reagy. Grasshoppers rallied for the last two scores made by Eloy Shepard and Andrew Pasmany, but they were unable to catch up. The final score, 10-3, The Paper 8.
