Championship Game Summary
White Tee's 40, Wilfork You Up 12

In the championship game of men’s run n' gun football, one team came to play and the other did not. The matchup pitted the White Tee’s against Wilfork You Up.  Both teams were top seeds in the playoffs. Wilfork You Up played a doubleheader and played a double overtime nail biter in their first game. Fatigue possibly played a factor in this game, but certainly something was not right for Wilfork You Up.

Early in the first half it seemed to be a defensive game. Both teams went three and out on their respective first possessions. In those possessions, Nick Catino was dominant, as he continually forced pressure on Wilfork You Up’s quarterback. With 15 minutes remaining in the half, Ryan McDonald threw a long bomb to Tim Higgins for the first score. After another forced turnover, McDonald threw another strike to Nicholas Coutinho to put the White Tee’s up 14. The next possession was the turning point in the game. With Wilfork You Up driving, they appeared to be gaining some momentum. However, Shane Donnelly changed all that. He intercepted a botched pitch attempt and took it to the house to put the White Tee’s up by 21.  At the end of the first half, White Tee’s lead 28-6.

The second half was the same story as the first half. McDonald threw another TD and ran for one more and accounted for all seven of his team’s touchdowns. Coutinho would make a number of great catches, frequently leaping over the defenders for scores. By the end of the game, it was 40-12. Wilfork You Up did all they could, but in the end the White Tee’s were just a little too much to handle.
