Championship Summary
Gym Class defeated The JV Team 6-3, 4-0
Twelve teams vied for the 2003 ice
hockey championship. Last year's
runnersup, Gym Class finished atop
the Smythe division with a record of
6-1-0. They defeated the Bangers 4-3
in overtime and avenged last year's
defeat by eliminating the defending
champion Head Foundation 5-3. .JV
Team received the number one seed
in the Patrick division by virtue of their
head-to-head win over Head
Foundation. JV Team shut out Raw
Dogs 3-0 and overpowered the
Minutemen 5-2 in the semifinal.
In game one, Kevin Olson & Pat
Devine scored to put JV Team up 2-0
at the end of the 1st period. The next
two periods were all Gym Class as
Burke Dignam & Steve Johnson netted
two goals each to power Gym Class to
the 4-2 win. In game two, JV Team
stormed out the 6-3 win behind goalie
Chris Concannon and Kevin Dunn's hat
trick.
JV's Kevin Olson added two
goals and Lawrence Feloney pitched in with
another. In the decisive 3rd game,
goals were hard to come by. Finally, at
the 7:00 minute mark of the 2nd
period, Ryan Conachen scored for the
Gym Class for the 1-0 lead. In the 3rd
period, goalie Jason Szabo was impenetrable; teammates Nate Jewell
scored once & Joe Hennessey twice for
the 4-0 Gym Class ice hockey championship.
