 Championship Game Summary
Controversy 49, The Rondos 28

The men’s holiday basketball tournament came down to a rematch between Rondos and Controversy. From the same league, Rondos narrowly nipped Controversy 54-53 in their first match up. In the championship, Controversy came out early and built up a 10-point lead with 5 minutes to go in the half. Rondos, led by Travis O’Deane, mounted an 8-point run to cut the lead down to two. Controversy’s Alexis Mongo hit a three toward the end of the first half to make it a 19-14 game. Rondos lack of a bench started to show in the second half as Controversy slowly pulled away. Caleb Noone ran the court and kept the game at a fast pace. Noone scored 8 points and recorded 3 assists. Captain Steve Gomes of Rondos continued to dominate the boards by hauling down 7 rebounds. But this wasn’t enough to keep his team in the game. Kenneth Summer-Lewis led Controversy with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Controversy closed out the game by a score of 49-28.
