Ten teams entered the 1994
Holiday Basketball Tournament. The top two teams in
each pool advanced into the
seeded championship round.
Defending champions, Jazz,
were the victims of a stunning
upset by a strong Supreme Court
squad, 47-46. In the other
semi-final, the seedings held as
undefeated DA Bad Boyz
handled UMass Dogs, 59-48.
Supreme Court, led by the hot
shooting of Ed Lussier and
Jason Demitropoulos, looked
primed for another upset.
Supreme led 23-15 at the half.
The lead swelled to ten with 12
minutes left. Boyz began to cut
into the lead. At 5:30, Kareem
Bartlett's monster jam trimmed
the deficit to six.
Kenneth
Hickman's key rebounds ignited
enough fastbreaks to forge a 4
point lead with 30 seconds to
play. Nick Tzanetakos hit a
huge trifecta to bring Supreme
within one point with 12 seconds
left. Dina Wavezwa was put on
the line and promptly iced two
for a 3 point Boyz lead.
Supreme had 6 seconds to bring
up the ball and launch a shot for
the tie. It didn't drop and DA
Bad Boyz won the tournament,
45-42.
