Championship Game Summary
Running It Up 63, Motion 28
Sixteen teams entered the 1992 Holiday Basketball Tournament.
Four teams emerged undefeated to challenge for the title. Body Count was
overcome by an offensive powerhouse, Running It Up, 79-45. In the other
semi-fmal, Motion held off Big Kids Don't Play, 46-30.
The championship fmal started slow as both teams exchanged turnovers
and missed shots. Midway through the first half, Dom Garbarino's bucket
open up the first substantial lead, 8-2, for Running. Motion's hard offensive
rebounding effort could not counter Motion's full court press. The lead
ballooned to 17-4. A steal by Chuck Johnson combined with Sean Gibbons'
hoop cut the lead to 20-9. Motion answered by getting hot from 3-point
land, the half ended, 35-13, for Running.
In the second half Running It Up kept up their tremendous half court
press and built an insurrnountable 54-21 lead with six minutes remaining
in the game. Motion played gallantly to the end, but they could not
overcome the deficit, final score 63-28.
