Championship Game Summary The 2011 women’s flag football championship started off with a bang. On the first play of the game on a crisp fall night at McGuirk Stadium, Wolfpack quarterback and team captain Devon Black scrambled for 50 yards. On the next play, Black threw a pass to Allison Treanor that brought the ball down to the 4-yard line. The drive was completed with Black's touchdown pass to Janelle Bloom. The try was well-defended by Tight Ends and was no good. On the ensuing Tight Ends possession, Kelsey Magrane intercepted the Tight End pass to give the ball back to Wolfpack. Wolfpack capitalized on the interception with a Black touchdown pass to Ryan Gorman after a terrific QB scramble to elude the Tight Ends pass rushers. Led by captain Jenna Mattera, once again the Tight Ends defense held solid and the PAT was denied. The first half ended on an exciting note as the Wolfpack quarterback Black was denied her third touchdown of the half. Black was de-flagged on the one-yard line as time expired. The Wolfpack took a 12-0 lead into the half. |
