Championship Game Summary
G.O.A.T. 28, Hot Shots 16

The co-rec championship brought two division winners together. G.O.A.T. went 4-1 in the regular season and barely escaped with a 6-0 quarterfinal win against the Sixty Niners. G.O.A.T. then defeated Braveheart 53-7 in one semifinal. Hot Shots, who also went 4-1 in the regular season, started out the playoffs with a 61-0 romp over the 17th Floor and downed the Bruisers 18-9 in the other semifinal. On a cold November championship night, Hot Shots went three and out on their first series.

On the ensuing punt, Greg Bergmann returned the ball forty yards to set up a first and goal . On their first play, QB Joshua Tousignant hit Chris Monahan in the endzone for 6. Katie Biedron made a nice catch from Tousignant to make it 7-0. With fifteen minutes to go in the half, G. O.A. T. ‘S Tousignant intercepted a Hot Shots pass. John Lupo caught a slant pass for a touchdown. The extra point failed but G.O.A.T. led 13-0. Hot Shots came out on their next possession needing a score. Judson Riggins hit Rebecca Kline with a two-yard swing pass, which looked like a safe play. Kline made a nice move and took the pass for fifty yards to make it a 13-9 game, but this was as close as Hot Shots would get. Before the end of the half, Tousignant hooked up with Lupo again to make the score 19-9.

In the 2nd half, G.O.A..T. went three and out on their first possession and it looked like Hot Shots had some momentum, but G.O.A.T.’s punt landed at the one yard line. Facing an all-out blitz, Riggins fumbled the ball in the endzone to give G.O.AT. a safety and the ball. G.O.A.T. marched down the field on a time-consuming drive. Tousignant threw to Monahan for the touchdown and to Biedron for the extra point.

With seven minutes remaining, G.O.A.T. led 28-9. Hot Shots got some momentum back when Riggins hit Gregory Genatosslo for a long touchdown pass to make it 28-15. Lisa Braun ran in the extra point for Hot Shots for the 28-16 score. Hot Shots’ defense was not able to stop G.O..A.T. as time ran out on the clock. The final seconds ticked away and G.O.A.T. celebrated the championship.
