Championship Game Summary
Pi Kappa Alpha Riders 27, Kegs of Duff 18

Fifty two teams qualified for the men’s flag football playoffs. Pi Kappa Alpha defeated Revenge of the Nerds 32-6, narrowly escaped the Jokers 14-13 and easily handled the Led Balls 20-6. PIKE withstood a challenge from the FUBARS 26-19 enroute to the final. Kegs of Duffs high-powered offense rolled over the Shockers 63-6 and the Big Dogs 35-0. Kegs held off Big Daddy Asbestos 36-28 and Delta Upsilon A 19-12 before eking out a tough 26-24 victory against a tenacious Diamond L Productions.

In the championship, both defenses were impenetrable until PIKE’S QB Mike Garvey connected with Steve Montgomery for two first half touch down passes. Kegs of Duff exploded onto the scoreboard on Rob Charest’s 40 yard ID strike to Joe Sullivan. After the PAT failed, the half ended with PIKE in the lead 14-6. In the second half, Montgomery pulled in another Garvey TD pass. John Noble’s PAT pushed the score to 21-6. Kegs’ Charest completed an other TD pass to cut the lead to 21-12. Garvey then found Steve Smith to put the game out of reach 27-12. Charest completed one more TD score for a 7-18 final.
