In It 2 Win lt’s high powered offense marched impressively into the championship game with decisive wins over Crazy B & The Boys (54-0), The Red Wave (49-6), and Cavaliers (39-6). Equally athletic, The Brittany Bunch scored wins over the Gladiators (28-6), Lambda Chi Alpha (14-12), Grid Creations Vol. III (14-6), and Sigma Phi Epsilon B (28-18).
The final was a re-match between two league rivals. In It 2 Win It handed The Brittany Bunch their lone defeat, 35-8, in the league finale.
Revenge was in the air as these two teams took the field on a bitterly cold November night. QB Derek Dana’s first completion put The Brittany Bunch on the 1-yard line. His second was a touchdown pass to Joe Riggi. In It 2 Win li’s first possession ended in a punt. Gerry Creamer’s spectacular catch over Ryan McMahon gave Brittany a 12-0 lead.
Joel Lesser connected with Dom Garbarino up the middle and Garbarino eluded two defenders en route to the end zone. Barry Connors caught the 1point PAT, Brittany lead 12-7. In ft stepped up defensively and regained possession of the ball at mid-field. Lesser completed a bomb to Jim Bastilic who capped the catch with a run into the end zone to give his team the lead, 13-12, as the first half ended.
The Brittany defense was burned by a Lesser pass to a wide-open Ryan McMahon. The lead was 19-12. Derek Dana answered for his team with a second TD completion to Gerry Creamer to pull his team within one, 19-18. Jim Bastille’s second TD reception was canceled by a hold ing penalty. A defensive penalty put the ball on the 1-yard line for In It 2 Win ft.
Jay Dodig executed the game’s first interception. Brittany had the ball and a chance at the lead with nine minutes to play. It was not to be. Ryan McMahon intercepted Derek Dana. Fifty-five seconds later Dom Garbarino had his second TD reception, In It led 25-18. On a crucial possession, Brittany turned the bail over on downs. After two great defensive plays, Ryan McMahon caught his second TD pass to give his team an insurmountable lead, 31-18. Joe Riggi caught his second TD pass as time expired, final score 31-24.
