Championship Summary
Bob's Team defeated Team Schred 17-15, 15-12
Twelve teams qualified for the
1995 Co-Rec Volleyball Special
Playoffs. Bob's Team disposed of
Teddy's Boys (15-7, 15-5) and
withstood No Name (17-15, 15-11)
to reach the final game. Defending
champions Team Schred managed to
survive Tag It (10-15, 15-10, 15-13)
and defeated Crew (15-13, 15-5).
The two finalists were well
acquainted. Team Schred had
defeated Bob's Team twice in league
play.
In game 1 of the final match,
Bob's Team forged a 5-1 lead.
Despite the strong jump serving of
Charan Leng, Schred battled back to
tie the game, 14-14. Team Schred
was led by the strong play of L. J.
Weslowski and Amy Fisher. Bob's
Team regrouped to win the last two
points and the game 17-15.
Game 2 was a see-saw battle.
Defensive play by both teams was
exceptional. Bob's Team lead by the
steady play of Laura Gurley
and Samantha Stone managed to
take the lead and keep it when it
mattered most. They won the last
three points and upset Team Schred,
15-12, to win a richly deserved title.
