Championship Game Summary
Viciados 2, Stardome 1 (2 OT)

The co-rec soccer championship featured Stardome versus Viciados. Stardome had the first goal attempt, but the wind got the best of the kick to send it sailing over the net. It wasn’t long, however, before Stardome scored the first goal of the game as Jovy Sarjeant knocked the ball in from 15 yards. Stardome dominated the play and had two more shots on goal but couldn’t score. Viciados’ defense contributed on the offensive end when Agostinho Lopes’s boot from beyond centerfield took flight in the wind and sailed into the goal to tie the game at one to end the first half. The second half began with a back-and-forth battle with key shots on goal. With 20 seconds left in the second half, Stardome’s captain Emily Railsback, while playing on an injured leg, had a spectacular shot on the goal, but the ball sailed just left. The second half ended with the teams still tied at one. In the first overtime period, Stardome had two direct kicks but were unable to capitalize. Both teams were unable to score. In the second overtime, Stardome’s best shot on goal was too powerful and sailed way over the net. With time winding down in the second half and the prospect of penalty kicks looming large, Viciados’ Danny Thomas got a shot from 10 yards out & put the ball past the goalkeeper. Viciados captured the 2-1 double overtime victory in stunning fashion.
