Co-Rec Soccer Spring 1994

The Screaming Iguanas

Championship Game Summary
The Screaming Iguanas 4, The Undertakers 0

The Screaming Iguanas successfully defended their last year's intramural co—rec soccer championship in a four to nothing shutout over the runners-up Undertakers.

Strong goaltending by the Undertakers' Stephen Brown kept the game scoreless until 5 minutes remained in the first half, when a costly pushing penalty against the Undertakers deep in their own zone led to the Iguanas' first goal. Eric Sloan took the direct kick and fed Kern Murphy who drilled it into the net for what turned out to be the game winner. The Screaming Iguanas struck again three minutes later when Jon lanelli took a pass from Eliz Brown and scored from 20 yards out to make it at 2—0 at the half.

The Iguanas put the game out of reach early in the second half as J. P. Lazlano dribbled up the left sideline through two Undertaker defenders and netted an unassisted goal just 2:00 minutes into the half. The closest the Undertakers would come to scoring came 10:00 minutes into the second half when Adam Bor smacked the cross bar with a shot from 2O yards out that bounced harmlessly over the net. The Screaming Iguanas' Eric Sloan picked up his second assist of the match as team mate Michael Faber took Sloan's chip and knocked in the fourth and final goal of the contest.
