In the inaugural co-rec kickball championship, the 4-2 Eggplants bested 6-0 D.J. Fish in a very close game.

In the first inning, D.J. Fish’s Audrey Carr nailed a 2-run homer to right field to bring home captain Josh Abrams. The Eggplants were quick to respond, however, with Esam Goodarzy getting a quick hit to first, with Patrick Lane ultimately getting the RBI to make it 2-1.

Despite Jared Raymond's and Carr’s hits in the second inning, D.J. Fish was unable to score. The Eggplants turned on the heat with hits from many of their players, including captain Courtney Bifani’s RBI to plate teammate Morgan Graynor and Goodarzy’s epic triple that brought home Jonathan Chiang and Bifani. The Eggplants led 4-2.

D.J. Fish floundered in the third inning with three kickers yielding three quick outs. The Eggplants extended their lead even further when Dara Safizadeh slammed a 3-run homer to bring home teammates Patrick Lane and Danielle Aragona to make the game 7-2. In the fourth inning, both teams were unable to score due to pop-outs and good defense.

D.J. Fish made one last stand in the fifth inning. Justin Handerhan got the rally started with a hit. But, Handerhan was put out at second on Christina Kollisch's fielder's choice. Ryan Verette kept the dream alive with a hit that moved Kollisch to second. A long single from Ricky “Trick J” Flynn brought home Kollisch and Verette and made the score to 7-4. Despite Carr’s double that advanced Flynn to third and Raymond’s subsequent RBI of Flynn, D.J.’s rally ended with the Eggplants winning 7-5.
