Sweathogs 22, 23 Hours 11

Defending softball champs Sweathogs defeated Key Look at Us 9-4, WBF over Bomb Squad and held on against Leftovers 10-8 to gain berth in the final. 23 Hours WBF over Hamburger Hell, squeaked by Kat’s Krew 4-3, and upset the dominant Outlaws 12-11 enroute to the final. On a cold and calm night, 23 Hours pitcher Marianne Steele loaded the bases on walks before Lisa Metcalf and Dave Carey each had hits to plate two runs.

In the 23 Hours home half, Justin Sabol stroked a 2-run homer to tie the game. 23 Hours added two more runs in the next inning on a home run by Eric Burke. Sweathogs started the third inning down by two runs. Kellie O’Donnell connected with an RBI single and Stephanie Tarantino’s double gave her team a 5-4 lead. 23 Hours came right back with five runs of their own and led 9-5 after 3 innings. Sweathogs put the game out of reach in the next two innings and took the championship 22-11.
