Championship Game Summary Six teams competed in the men's grad/fac playoffs. Moore Money had a tough road to the final, as they pulled out a close one over Axis II Ballers 47-42. In their semifinal, Money defeated last year's runnerup TOC Inc. with a decisive 42-27 victory. X-Factor, on the other hand, received a first round bye and benefited from a double forfeit, which gave them a free pass to the final. Moore Money came out on fire and jumped to an early 13-6 lead behind the shooting of Nick Macaulay. X-Factor regrouped and stayed focused. Nickolay Panchev took over the game as he scored two straight threes to make it a one point game in favor of Moore Money at 15-14. X-Factor kept up the pressure by playing aggressive defense and went into halftime with a 25-19 lead. In the second half, Moore Money once again started off hot and reclaimed the lead at 32-30 as Neal Van Patten's strong inside play briefly changed the momentum. Once again X-Factor picked up the pace of the game and regained their stellar defense. Panchev continued to find paths to the hoop for easy layups. Moore Money couldn't stop Panchev, who knocked down 32 points and added nine rebounds. X-Factor cruised in the second half to a 51-42 win. |
