Championship Game Summary
Sugar Free 53, Epsilon Balls 51

The 1998 Grad-Fac-Staff Final featured two teams well acquainted with each other. Defending champions Sugar Free defeated Epsilon Balls twice in league play. Sugar Free breezed through Deaton (54-40) and MBA Action (46-3 7) to reach the final game. Epsilon Balls easily handled International Males (50-29), Ground Zero (42-31), and eked out a win over Trouble Shooters (47-45). In the final, Dmitry Rumynin's back-to- back treys paced an 11-4 lead for Epsilon.

Sugar settled down, and behind the strong play of Jonathan Kinloch tied the game 28-28 at half-time. Epsilon, this time led by Matthew Auth's inside game, broke out to a 36-29 lead. Kinloch brought Sugar roaring back and Bill Kackley's trey knotted the score 51-51. Overtime loomed large as Kackley was fouled with 3 seconds to go. Kackley's free throws found the bottom of the net. Time ran out on Epsilon's desperation heave; final score 53-51.
