Drop-In Workout Membership
In order to purchase a drop-in workout card you must have a facility membership. All undergraduates have a facility membership at no additional fee during the academic year. Faculty, staff, graduate, and continuing education students pay $40.00 per full semester for a facility membership.
- Once you have a facility membership, you may purchase a drop-in workout card. Come to 215 Boyden with your Ucard and cash or check. Drop-in workouts are $1.00/workout. You may purchase 5, 10, 15, 20 or 25 workouts.
- Registration form may be downloaded here - simply fill it out and bring in with your payment (cash or check) to 215 Boyden.
- Use the workout card for any workouts listed on the schedule; the card is good through the end of the semester.
Drop-In Workout Policies
-
Participants must purchase “Get Fit” pass in advance (in 215 Boyden, cash or check) to attend classes.
-
Passes are available for 5, 10, 15, 20 or 25 workouts ($1.00/session).
-
Pass is good for any class. You may attend any classes of your choice until the specified number of classes has been recorded.
-
“Get Fit” cards are stored in the instructor’s file box, and attendance is recorded by the instructor at the classroom.
-
Passes cannot be shared or transferred!
-
Drop-in workouts are open to UMass students, faculty and staff.
-
If a class is reaching capacity, participants will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis.
-
Proper attire is required! Clothing requirements are the same as those for the fitness center.
-
Water is permitted and encouraged, but other beverages and food are not allowed.
Tips for a Good Workout
-
Arrive on time! A warm-up period is offered for safety and comfort. It is not a good idea to miss any part of the warm-up period. Also, arriving in a timely manner can help if a class typically reaches capacity.
-
Work at your own pace. Modifications are offered for varying fitness levels, so select the one that is challenging yet comfortable.
-
Try a variety of classes. Everyone has a favorite, but different classes address different aspects of fitness. Recruit a buddy if you need extra motivation.
-
Ask questions before and after class if you have concerns or want to know what the class will be like.
-
Try something twice. Sometimes learning the terminology and form at the first session can change your perception of a certain class.
