Financial Aid

Financial Aid

In order to be considered for Financial Aid, students must complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA: Apply For Aid Using The FAFSA Form. This is the only application necessary. The information it provides will enable UMass Amherst to determine whether you qualify for grants, scholarships, tuition credits, loans or part-time employment to help defray your education expenses.

No matter your financial need, you must submit the FAFSA to be considered.  In planning your financing strategy, explore all available options and be sure you understand how to apply for financial aid, as well as all of the benefits, requirements, and responsibilities of receiving it.  For more information visit the Financial Aid Office of UMass Amherst.

Financial Aid Help

Pending aid on a student’s  account refers to the amount of Financial Aid that is anticipated to be awarded on behalf of the student. There are many reasons why a Financial Aid award may be in pending status (i.e., funds have not yet been received by the school, etc.).  To find out why the aid has not been applied, first check your To Do's in SPIRE.
