Catherine Fill
Graduate Student
Catherine Fill is originally from New York City. She obtained a BS in Forensic Chemistry from Buffalo State College in Buffalo, NY. While at school, she conducted undergraduate research on biosensors and completed an internship at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in the Department of Virology and Immunology. Catherine is currently working towards her MS in Food Science at UMass Amherst. Her project focuses on developing a novel rapid test to detect contaminants in yogurt. This involves synthesizing and modifying fluorescent nanoparticles and optimizing testing conditions. She also worked as a teaching assistant in the pilot plant for FD265 and 581 for five semesters. In her spare time, Catherine enjoys running, baking, spending time with her cat, and reading. |
