| In 2003 Jesse Jacobs made the switch from business analyst and user interface designer, to the co-owner of the Samovar Tea Lounge in San Francisco. The restaurant opened with some interest but soon became a favorite among residents and visitors alike. But if we rewind, we see that Jacobs' story is an interesting one. In 1995, Jacobs graduated from UMass Amherst with a BDIC concentration in Japan and the European Community while furthering his studies by spending some time abroad in Denmark and Japan. he realized that that the life of the traveling techie wasn’t for him. He wanted not only to produce, but also to experience his work and he found that the world of tea shops' offered just that. Finally, in 2002, Jacobs joined with Paul Fullarton and Robert Sandler and developed the idea for the Samovar Tea Lounge. Since the opening of the restaurant in 2003, it has evolved into a community space. The 60-person lounge has seen its share of friendly get-togethers, business meetings, inquiring tourists and more. To reach out to the community, the Samovar Tea Lounge hosted several election booths for it's local patrons to vote for the mayor.
