On Sunday April 12th, the UMass Concert Band held its annual spring concert in the Fine Arts Center concert hall. It was a great turnout with many friends, family, and supporters who enjoyed an afternoon full of wonderful music. The UMass Concert Band was joined by the Amherst Regional High School Wind Ensemble for a combined concert under the directions of Amherst Regional High School music director, a UMass and UMMB Alumnus, Kara Nye and UMMB Director Tim Anderson. UMass played a variety of pieces such as “Aquarela Do Brasil” and “American Civil War Fantasy”.
Concert Band (MUSIC 569) is an ensemble offered to both non-music and music major students of the 5-College program. The class recently became available both fall and spring semesters at the George N. Parks Marching Band Building. The concert band is directed by Dr. Timothy Todd Anderson on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:40pm to 6:10pm, as well as other guest conductors that are often graduate music students.
