On January 7th, 2014, Governor Deval Patrick will be taking the Lone Walk out of the State House, and you can expect the Minuteman Marching Band to be there! The Lone Walk, which dates back to 1799, is an event during which the doors of the State House open, and the governor leaves to finally become a private citizen. The doors only open for the Lone Walk, foreign dignitaries, and the President of the United States. Needless to say, the UMass Marching Band is thrilled to perform at this event.
On Friday November 28th, the 2014 UMMB season will come to an end as the UMass Minutemen play the Buffalo Bulls. Kick-off is at 1PM at McGuirk Stadium but be sure to come early as we acknowledge both the football team seniors and the marching band seniors. It has been such a great season and we cannot wait to perform our best show yet. We invite all attendees to stay after post-game for the special Senior Show. The Senior Show is written and directed by our 2014 seniors and combines songs and elements from our show music from the past four years.
This year, the University of Massachusetts Minuteman Marching Band will welcome approximately 125 new members. They will step off on August 23rd, one of the university’s biggest days of band camp. The marching band is composed of students who have marched throughout their high school career, and also students who have never taken a single roll-step. No matter what their history, all rookie members go through a day-and-a-half of review, instructed by the marching band’s four drum majors and student field staff.
UMMB Ad Staff and Drum Majors are gearing up for a great 2014 season!
