Third Quarter Antics

At all home football games, the tubas' favorite quarter is always the third. While the rest of the band rests after the halftime performance, the tubas are laid to rest and the tuba players wreak havoc on McGuirk Alumni Stadium. Each week, the tuba players do something else.

We love being UMass cheerleaders for a quarter. We exchange our tuba shades for wonderful maroon and white colored pom- poms. While we probably end up on the losing side of the deal, we are very generous people and want to share the glory of wearing tuba shades to the fantastic UMass cheerleading squad.

Other antics include leading the entire home side of the stadium in the wave. We want the crowd to be as loud and enthusiastic as possible to give the football team a home field advantage.

If there is room on the away side of the stands, we try to spell out words using our body. Sorry, we only do english words and musical symbols at this time.

While we are still waiting for it to actually work, the human pyramid is one of the favorites of the tuba players. No 15-person human pyramid (5-4-3-2-1) has been known to successfulIy be completed by the UMass tubas. If you know of any human pyramid tips, please feel free to contact us. We are absolutely desperate!

Watch out during the 3rd quarter. You never know when the tubas are going to be in a seat near YOU

Yes, I'm pointing to you!
