The mellophone section of the UMass Marching Band is clearly where it's at!

We have a great group of people and we are definitely the life of the band. Our section can range from about 20-25 people from majors all across the University's spectrum -- from Journalism to Nursing, Engineering to Sport Management and (of course) Music and Music-Ed, the Mello line has a place for you! We are very friendly, very loud and we are a very close section sharing friendships both on and off the field. In practice and performance we get things done with a great sense of humor, while off the field we enjoy each others company at social events, on Facebook, and through many "reply-all" emails.

So what does it mean to be a Mellophone?

It means having a great sense of combined humor involving tons of inside jokes, great relationships with your "fellow mellos" and,
of course, superior musical talent!

Mellophones won the award for Most-Improved Section in both 2005 and 2006!
