Assistant Professor Ximena Gómez Receives Multiple Awards

Assistant Professor Ximena Gómez has received several awards during the 2019-2020 year.
Gómez has been chosen for the Summer Institute on Tenure and Professional Advancement (SITPA) at Duke University, a mentoring and professional socialization initiative that facilitates the successful transition from junior faculty status to tenured associate professor. She has received two awards for her dissertation, the Maureen Ahern Doctoral Dissertain Award in Colonial Latin Amercican Studies from Colonial Section of the Latin American Studies Association and the ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Award for 2019 from the University of Michigan. She has also been selected for the Traveling Seminar on Afro-Latin American Art through the Afro-Latin American Research Institute at Harvard University, a seminar that seeks to constitute a transnational research network of scholars interested in Afro-Latin American Art.
