Mission Statement of the Five Colleges ConsortiumFive College, Incorporated is a nonprofit educational consortium established in 1965 to promote the broad educational and cultural objectives of its member institutions, Amherst College, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Hampshire College and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Five College: Visiting ArtistsThe Visiting Artists Programs hosts numerous presentations, open to the public, by artists each year in lectures, symposia, performances and screenings. The primary mission of the Visiting Artists Programs is to educate and foster a greater understanding and appreciation of contemporary art through discourse. It is a transdisciplinary effort that showcases artists working in all media including sound, video, performance, poetry, painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, animation, architecture + design and independent film, in addition to curators, critics, and art historians. These artists from around the country and the world to teach and lecture about their work. |
