The Mission of UMass Archaeological Services is to conduct and to promote the study of human behavior through archaeological investigation of sites and material culture, the analysis of scientific evidence, and study of historical documentation.  Our group is located with the Department of Anthropology and includes archaeologists and other specialists drawn from the University of Massachusetts community.  We provide technical and other services to our sponsors to help them identify, protect, and manage terrestrial and submerged archaeological and other cultural resources.  Our services include conducting archaeological overviews and assessments, reconnaissance surveys (Phase 1A and 1B), geophysical surveys, site examinations, data recoveries, and educational outreach.
