"Voices from the Field" Course Visits First Site
The Voices from the Field Course got into gear this week with a site visit to the Champion Center at UMass Amherst. Thanks to our enthusiastic guide, Chris, from Whiting Turner! The group, composed of graduate students from the UMass Amherst Architecture + Design program and led by Assistant Professor Caryn Brause, compared the civil engineering drawings for pressure injected footings and erosion control measures with what that looks like on a wintry job site.
The Voices from the Field Course has been made possible by a 2013 NCARB Award for the Integration of Practice and Education. The University of Massachusetts Amherst was amongst Florida Atlantic University and Kansas State University to be selected for this honor.
