Book Reviews

Publishers of books in African studies should arrange to send books for review to:

Catharine Newbury and David Newbury, Book Review Co-Editors
African Studies Review
Dewey Hall 122 West Street
Smith College
Northampton MA 01063 USA

In the interest of preserving academic independence in the ASR reviews, we cannot accept unsolicited reviews.

The Book Review Editors seek individuals well qualified by research interest and publications to review books in their specific areas of expertise. In exchange for writing a publishable book review, the author of the book review gets to keep the book. No other remuneration is provided.

We respect the right of the book reviewer to write her/his own assessment of a book, and we have no intention of editing that judgment. At the same time, we may need to edit for length, spelling, and expression, and will confer with our book reviewers on such matters whenever we propose changes.

Guidelines on format and submission requirements for those invited to review books.
