Demographic Characteristics of Farm Operators: Ethnicity
Nearly all (98.7 percent) Massachusetts's principal farmer operators in 2002 were white. In total, the 2002 Census of Agriculture found that there were 23 African American (0.38 percent), 19 American Indian or Alaskan (0.31 percent), 19 Asian 90.31 percent), one native Hawaiian (.02 percent), and 16 multi-raced (0.26 percent) farm operators in Massachusetts. Combined, these ethnic groups represent 1.3 percent of all principal farm operators in the Commonwealth.
