Scholarships

Each year Air Force ROTC awards thousands of scholarships to high school and college students nationwide. Air Force ROTC scholarships offer something traditional scholarships don't—a job in your chosen career field immediately after graduation.  For a summary of all AFROTC scholarship programs and to help get the money you need for college go to the official Air Force ROTC website or contact the Unit Admissions Officer at (413) 545-2437.
Besides the great scholarship opportunities available through the Air Force, some colleges and universities offer special scholarships just for ROTC students. These are usually in addition to any Air Force scholarships.  Here at Detachment 370 we currently have two schools that offer special "ROTC Only" Scholarships.

University of Massachusetts Amherst
The University of Massachusetts has established a merit-based scholarship program available only to Air Force ROTC students.  It consists of ten $1,000 scholarships to be awarded by the Detachment 370 Commander as he or she sees fit.  The scholarship, once awarded, is applied each subsequent year of enrollment and can be used for any expenses incurred throughout the school year.  This means you could earn up to $4,000 in addition to any Air Force scholarships already received.
In order to be eligible for the UMASS-Air Force ROTC Merit Scholarship you must:
    - Be enrolled in Air Force ROTC
    - Be a full-time UMASS Student
    - Meet the Det 370 Commander's requirements

Western New England College

Western New England College offers an incentive scholarship to Air Force ROTC scholarship students.  WNEC will provide full room and board to any student entering WNEC with a four-year ROTC scholarship.  If the student selects Gateway for residence, they will receive full room and $1,500.  Other students who receive ROTC scholarships while enrolled at the college will receive full room during the period they qualify for the ROTC scholarship. The incentive will be considered part of all gift aid a student may receive from the college based on merit or need.  In no case will the total gift aid provided by the college and external gift aid, exceed the student’s direct cost of education.
