Lt Col Mark Guerber

 

Lieutenant Colonel Mark R. Guerber is the Detachment Commander for AFROTC Det 370, University of Massachusetts in Amherst.  The Minutemen, draw from and exemplify their heritage as an elite guard, ready to respond with only a moments notice, able to conquer challenges with decisive results.  The detachment’s 4-year program develops leaders of character that will guide the Air Force in air, space, and cyber over the next twenty years.  Lt Col Guerber is a distinguished graduate of the Reserve Officers Training Corps from the Illinois Institute of Technology. 

 

Upon completion of Undergraduate Space and Missile Training, he was assigned to the 6th Space Operations Squadron (6 SOPS), Offutt Air Force Base, NE, as a crew commander and instructor for the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program.  Following    6 SOPS, Lt Col Guerber performed successive assignments at Clear AFS, then F.E. Warren AFB where he was responsible for training over 200 crewmembers in the 90th Operations Group.  After F.E. Warren, Lt Col Guerber was re-assigned under Air Intelligence Agency in the 23d Information Operations Squadron as the flight commander responsible for producing the AFTTP 3.1, Information Warfare.  In 2005, Lt Col Guerber was selected to attend the United States Air Force Weapons School (USAFWS), Weapons Instructor Course, Nellis AFB, NV.  Upon graduation, he was assigned as the Space Weapons Officer to the Combined Air Operations Center, Al Udeid, Qatar supporting USCENTCOM in Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM.  Lt Col Guerber returned to Nellis as a USAFWS Instructor & attended Air Command and Staff College at Maxwell AFB.

 

Following ACSC, Lt Col Guerber was reassigned to Headquarters Air Force Space Command, Peterson AFB, CO, where he was responsible developing the AFSPC Program Objective Memorandum for the AFSPC Commander.  Lt Col Guerber then served as the Operations Officer of the 76th Space Control Squadron, commander of an Expeditionary Space Control Squadron and the Commander of the AF’s first and only dedicated active duty defensive space control unit, the 16th Space Control Squadron. Most recently, he was the Deputy Commander for the 544th Intelligence Survellance and Reconnaisance Group, providing both national and service space based intelligence, for and with Air Force Space Command, Air Combat Command, and the combatant commands.
