Rick’s Place provides free grief support to children and families from all over Western MA. https://ricksplacema.org/
INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION: We are looking for an individual who is interested in using art to support children and teens who are grieving someone special, most often a parent or sibling. The intern would work with our staff to plan engaging art activities for our peer support groups.
Groups meet every other Tuesday evening for eight-week sessions at our site in Wilbraham. Groups include children ages 4 – 18. The time commitment is 5:45 pm – 8:00 pm every other Tuesday, plus planning time to prepare art activities and meeting time for training and supervision with our staff. The planning portion of the time is very flexible at our office in Wilbraham. Additionally, Rick’s place facilitates grief groups in area schools. There may be the opportunity to support these groups as well.
We provide intensive training to anyone who wishes to work with children and teens in our support groups. We are flexible and are able to tailor an internship to meet the educational needs of the student. Interns are screened, trained and supervised to provide support, education, and facilitation to small groups of grieving youth.
Note: We require one 17-hour required training program. NOTE: Completion of training is not a guarantee that you will be accepted as a facilitator.
