Silverthorne Theater Company (STC) is a vibrant small professional theater organization based in the Upper Pioneer Valley that has seen rapid growth since its inception in 2014. STC produces high quality theater showcasing the talents of experienced regional actors, directors and technicians. The mission of our organization is to bring excellence of performance to adventurous drama, combining the best of the theatrical repertoire while also promoting unheard voices and connecting with underserved populations. After only five years, Silverthorne is already ranked among the top Western MA theater companies for its solid professionalism and thought-provoking productions.
This fall we will round out our 2019 season with two fully staged productions: The Revolutionists and The Diary of Anne Frank. We also plan a Christmas show and a major fund-raising campaign. Our personnel as well as our audiences are drawn from the entire Western MA region and we are seeking to capitalize on our reputation for excellence with an expanded online presence and professional-quality arts marketing tools.
INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION: You will work with and under the supervision of Silverthorne’s Producing Artistic Director, a veteran theater director and administrator with many years experience in professional theater, marketing, events planning and public relations for a variety of non-profit organizations. You will learn about the full range of marketing tools available in a relatively contained target area, a valuable skill to have for breaking into a crowded industry.
You will be able to contribute substantially to bringing the theater’s marketing tools into line with contemporary practices, and will benefit from having a recommendation from a highly successful arts organization. Your resume will get a large boost from your involvement with Silverthorne!
The intern will work with the Director in the following areas for 2019 and the spring of 2020.
- Review the July 2019 STC online presence audit and assist with corrective measures for the theater’s web site and other online sites
- Review results of audience survey from April-May 2019 to assist in developing targeted marketing strategies for spring 2020.
- Assist with developing major marketing tools for 2020-2021 season including Season Brochure design, Brochure advertising materials, and advertiser/sponsor database for targeting new supporters.
- Work with videographer to develop video marketing tools.
- Develop solicitation materials and assisting with Fall 2019 fund-raising campaign events.
PERIOD OF INTERNSHIP/EMPLOYMENT: Fall 2019 (with possible extension into Spring 2020)
PAY TYPE: Unpaid
OPPORTUNITY TYPE: Internship (possibly developing into part-time paid)
JOB STATUS: Part-time, 4-6 hours per week – available
LOCATION: Mostly remote, with occasional meetings in Greenfield.
