ABOUT BMC VINTAGE (bmcvintagedesign.com):
Beth McElhiney is an Master Silversmith who has been a jeweler for 35 years. The Parsons and FIT graduate lived on Martha's Vineyard until 5 years ago when she developed her new business, BMc Vintage Design. Now she takes antique silver plated serving pieces and resurfaces them in bright, contemporary, food safe colors. Her teapots, butterdishes, and water pitchers come alive again by powder coating them in a rainbow of options like turquoise, orange, yellow. Her new jewelry collection is following this color theme now as well.
Once the business started growing she moved off the Island here to Easthampton and now lives and works out of her loft in the Eastworks Mill building. It is a one person business that partners with sandblasters in Agawam and a powder coater in Holyoke. Beth also is very involved in the Eastworks community, hosting large tea parties, managing the Holiday Pop Up shop and organizing Open Studios.
BMc Vintage Design does Arts and Vintage shows and has an online presence on Etsy and Ebay. Beth accepts customer's family silver to resurface as well. She is working on developing retail store accounts, expanding her social media and online marketing, and tracking special orders.
BMc Vintage Design is looking for an individual who is energetic, reliable, organized and interested in learning about a small artisan business, trade shows, booth and product display. This is a company that is small but has great growth potential. In addition Beth has 30+ years of experience in Retail management so a solid business background to share. She would love to find someone who has a good grasp on social media and wants to learn how to develop it as a marketplace. Good computer skills are a plus and Beth is open to young creative idea input. An intern would have the opportunity to learn the arts business from all sides. They would be able to assist with photography of products, packaging design and market research. Skill training in metals and sales is available also.
The main work location would at the loft in Eastworks but there would be outside opportunities to accompany Beth to shows or retail store calls. Open to all levels and degrees; marketing, visual art, or product design major might be most interested. Experience in social media campaigns a plus
