Alumni Success Story: Crista D'Angelo, WGBH

Congratulations to AES Alum Crista D’Angelo, who is a new Development Assistant at WGBH in Boston! WGBH is a public media organization that serves the New England region with public radio, TV, and podcasts. Crista graduated from UMass-Amherst in May 2016 with a Bachelors in Music and a Certificate in Arts Management. Crista is Development Assistant for the Ralph Lowell Society at WGBH, the membership circle for annual donors of $1,500 or more. Crista provides administrative assistance to the Major Gift Officers, allowing them to focus their time working with individual donors.

While a student with AES, Crista took Introduction to Arts ManagementArts MarketingArts FundraisingFinancial Management in the Arts, and Foundations in Arts Entrepreneurship. According to Crista, “I feel the strength of my arts management classes was their use of real arts organizations as case studies. Through our classwork, we created marketing plans, fundraising plans, etc. that could have a positive impact for the organization moving forward. This use of real world case studies has made me feel more comfortable applying the things I learned to my new position at WGBH!"

In addition to her Certificate in Arts Management, Crista was also a Capital Campaign intern with the community arts organization, CitySpace Easthampton. Thanks to the AES' Arts Entrepreneurship Initiative, Five College students are being connected with arts internship opportunities in the UMass area. “My internship helped build experience that employers wanted to see. Interviewers were frequently interested in hearing about my work with the CitySpace board researching capital campaign best practices and creating development documents and timelines.

Congratulations again, Crista!
