This winter, AES received grants from the Local Cultural Councils of Amherst, Easthampton, Westfield, and Springfield to bring evening-long Community Engagement for Artists workshops to their communities in the fall of 2018.
Taught by AES instructor Terre Vandale, the workshops will cover the exciting practice of community engagement, including sharing examples of innovative projects, the skills needed and the steps required for artists to create public art with the community, or “art for social change” projects that truly reflect the needs and desires of the communities involved.
AES also received a grant from the Local Cultural Council of Holyoke to bring an intensive, weekend-long Public Art Process for Artists training to Holyoke. Thanks to additional funding from the Vice Chancellor’s Office of Research and Engagement at UMass Amherst, AES will be able to offer this workshop on April 14-15. More details to come!
Special thanks to the Local Cultural Councils, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and the Vice Chancellor’s Office of Research and Engagement at UMass Amherst for continuing to support the work AES does for artists in the Western Mass region
