Talents: What do you do well?
Values: What is important to you (salary, time commitment,
prestige, power, helping others, etc)?
Utilize the following resources to learn more about yourself: Step2: Information GatheringResearch the major choices available to you Explore the UMass department websites
Talk with upper class students, professors and alumni
Attend the Majors Fair: Wednesday, October 24th 5:30-7:30 PM
Meet with an advisor in Undergraduate Advising (545-2191)
Focus on those that are of interest to you Enroll in introductory level courses in the department
Meet with the Chief Undergraduate Advisor in the department
Review the prerequisites and the process for getting admitted into the major
Learn about specific graduation requirements (# of credits, specific courses, math, language).
Step3: Evaluation/Reflection/Decision MakingEvaluate your experience in the introductory level ccourses
Compare your strengths and interests with the requirements of the department
Prioritize your top choices and talk with your Academic Advisor to develop a plan to move forward in declaring a major
Step4: Implement Your Action PlanDeclare your major! Speak with your advisor in Undergraduate Advising for details
