Information for Parents
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law
protecting the confidentiality of student records. In compliance with FERPA,
the University of Massachusetts Amherst must have a student’s expressed
written permission in order to release information from her/his records
to any third party, including parents, spouse, or employer.
A copy of FERPA can be found in the Code of Student Conduct that is available
on the Dean of Students web site:
Code of Student
Conduct.
For more information regarding FERPA please contact the University's Office of Parent Services.
