Regular Decision Admission (First Year)

Students who apply under the Regular Decision (RD) option must submit an application by January 15. Official SAT/ACT test scores and an official high school transcript (including the first set of senior grades) must be sent as soon as possible after the application deadline. Admission decisions will be communicated beginning in early March.

Please note that there are three possible decisions for fall RD applicants:

• Students who are admitted will be offered admission for the upcoming fall term, contingent upon successful completion of the senior year. They will have until May 1 to decide whether to enroll at UMass Amherst.
  
  
• Since we are not able to admit all students, a select group of students who presented strong academic credentials will be offered the option of being placed on the waitlist. Specific details regarding waitlist options will be included in the waitlist offer letter.
  
  
• Each year we make the difficult decision to deny some students whose academic records are not competitive within the overall applicant pool. While a deny decision for that fall semester is final, students may apply as a transfer student after completing one year of academic work at another college or university.

Spring Admission

Students who apply for spring admission must submit an application by October 1. Official SAT/ACT test scores and the final high school transcript must be sent as soon as possible after the application deadline. Admission decisions (admit or deny only) will be communicated by December 15.

Please note that there are two possible decisions for spring RD applicants:

• Students who are admitted will be offered admission for the upcoming spring term, contingent upon successful completion of the senior year.
  
  
• Students whose academic records are not competitive within the overall applicant pool will be denied. While a deny decision for that spring semester is final, students may apply as a transfer student after completing one year of academic work at another college or university.
