Veterans' Contact Information

If you’re a current or former member of the United States Military, you should contact the UMass Amherst Veterans Affairs Office as soon as you start the application process. The staff at Veterans' Affairs helps Veterans, Guardsmen, and Reservists to access the benefits available to them through the Montgomery Bill educational benefits program. They also help students make the transition from active military duty to UMASS Amherst, and from UMASS Amherst to active military duty.

How To Apply

Veterans apply for admission to UMass Amherst in the same way as all students and are considered under regular admissions policies. You may submit a copy of the DD214 or 2586 to verify potential credits earned for military experience. Do not submit the original, as this document will be needed at a later date to establish eligibility for GI Bill benefits. If still on active duty, submit the copy when you are released.

For Further Information

Go to the Veterans Affairs website for important phone numbers and links.

Veterans' Affairs

Veterans’ Affairs is part of the Dean of Students Office, an essential resource for all UMass Amherst students and their families. The Dean of Students and the staff will help you negotiate the bureaucracy of the campus, answer your questions, advocate on your behalf, or point you and your family in the right direction to get problems solved.
