  Teacher Quality Dialogues

The project, Developing Embedded Professional Practices for Meeting the Literacy Needs of English Language Learners, seeks to develop shared communication, between the University of Massachusetts Amherst and the Springfield School District. The dialogue project seeks to create new venues for communication and implementation of current understandings about instructional needs of English Language Learners between: 1) principals, administrators, and instructional leaders who seek professional development in this area for themselves or their school; and 2) district teachers who are currently engaged in classroom inquiry as part of their course work to gain licensure as ELL teachers and Reading Specialists. The goal of these dialogues is to develop shared expertise about the reading and writing needs of English Language Learners. Funded by the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education, this three year Teacher Quality Higher Education Partnership Grant project supports ACCELA teachers as they become literacy leaders who are resources in their schools and in the district.
