Hammersly, Martyn (2002) provides a useful guide to the methodological literature on discourse analysis. After a brief review of the field, he introduces the main kinds of discourse analysis and lists key methodological resources for each. He distinguishes between Linguistic approaches to Discourse Analysis, Introductions to Discourse Analysis in the context of social psychology, sociology, and cultural studies, Conversation analysis (including what has been recently labelled as Feminist Conversation Analysis), and discourse analysis as influenced by critical theory, feminism, and poststructuralism.
