  ACCELA Research

The ACCELA Alliance (Access to Critical Content and English Language Acquisition) is a federally-funded professional development partnership between the University of Massachusetts Amherst, three local school districts, and several community organizations in Western Massachusetts. The purpose of this partnership is to support the academic literacy development of linguistically and culturally diverse students attending public schools in the region by providing sustained, data-driven professional development to local teachers, administrators, community leaders, teacher educators, researchers, and policymakers. As part of this effort, the ACCELA Alliance has developed four programs. These programs are designed to support local educators in fully understanding and responding to the combined influences of current district, state, and federal policies shaping the academic achievement of English Language Learners.
