Overview and Programs
The Community
Education Project (CEP) is a small, non-profit educational organization
based in Holyoke, Massachusetts. We receive funding from the State Dept.
of Education, from the City of Holyoke, from private foundations,
and from our own fundraising
efforts. CEP's Board of Directors and Staff are highly representative of
the community in which we work: more than 90% of them are Latino/a,
over half are
low-income and many are current or former learners in adult basic education
such as higher education, employment, and civic participation and
incorporates students'
concerns such as employement, housing, the environment, and citizenship
into the curriculum.

Collaboration with Workforce Development:

CEP out-stations
a staff member at CareerPoint one day a week to identify job
seekers' educational needs and to provide assessment, referral
and placement services. |

CEP staff is currently
attending cross-training sessions with CareerPoint staff. |

CEP has offered on-site
English for Employment for manufacturers in Holyoke, such as
Laminated Papers as well as English for Employment for former
AMES workers. |

CEP teachers integrate
job readiness and employment into class curricula. |
 |
