Her research interests include critical literacy, systemic functional linguistics, and performative pedagogy. She is currently looking at genre-based pedagogy and critical literacy in upper elementary and middle school English Language Arts classroom.

Research interests include bi/multiliteracies, literacy and bilingualism in former colonized societies, literacy and legacy colonialism.

Research interests include second language acquisition, literacy development and first language maintenance among immigrant students. Recently she is developing her research on the inner city schools in Springfield with elementary English language learner school children.

Pierre W. Orelus

Pierre is interested in critical literacy and post-colonial issues. He has been looking at the effects of high-stakes testing on linguistically and culturally diverse students. He has also been exploring ELL students’ transition from ELL to mainstream classrooms.

Research interests include looking at the relationships between theory and practice for public school teachers and how research is negotiated in their classrooms.

Dong-shin Shin

Her research interests include teacher professional development, second language acquisition, literacy development, and incorporating technology in language and literacy education.
